Making sure the children, spouse, or "significant others" keep in touch

The Problem:

We know...even when you want to romanticize about "getting away from it all" while galavanting around the Italian countryside, there is still something in the back of your head that says, "I’d feel a lot better if I knew they COULD get in touch with me if they had to." Everyone has their reasons, but whatever they are, travelers generally tell us that they the peace of mind of being reachable "just in case" far outweighs the possibility of being bothered on your time away from home.

The Solution:

Every global phone we sell or rent comes with its own US-toll free number. This means whenever someone wants to call you, they just pick up their phone and dial your 1-800 number._* There are no other extra digits or steps to do. This is way better than giving people an international phone number to call you on, which is the most common approach with competing products.

Why getting a US-Number is better for you:

  • People won’t make mistakes dialing it
  • They don’t pay anything to call you, which means they don’t have that as an excuse!
  • Nobody will get annoyed for receiving a big bill from the phone company for calling you in another country (remember they just call a US number to reach you anywhere.)
  • Some people’s long distance plans don’t have international dialing, which would result in their attempts to call you being blocked. You don’t have to worry about this.

We do give you an international number too, but...

(It’s really designed to let your non-US contacts call you while you’re traveling.)

We do not support the use of this international number from the United States because:

  • The connection quality might not be as good as calling a US number.
  • They might not dial the number correctly. (International is a bit more complicated.)
  • Their home phone plan might not have international dialing enabled (so the calls will get blocked)
  • Their home phone plan might charge a crazy rate which will show up on a nasty phone bill a month later.

Note:

We won’t stop you from trying, but we will not be held responsible for any problems with people not being able to call you on your international number from the States. There are just so many phone companies involved that it is beyond our ability to help troubleshoot the myriad of issues that may arise in doing so.
